The Lehman College men's volleyball team was picked fourth in the CUNYAC Pre-Season Poll as voted by the conference coaches as they begin play tonight at the Alvernia Quad Tournament.
The Lightning return nine players from last year's team that went 15-11 overall and 6-2 in CUNYAC play. Last year the Lightning fell in the conference semi-finals in three straight to Baruch. Lehman hopes to build on the success that they enjoyed last season.
"We started slow last season," commented second year head coach
Sovanny Ebbesen. "I accepted the job in early January and by the time I moved to New York we had two weeks before our first match. I think we are a lot better prepared this season."
Coach Ebbesen will look to returning starters,
Roberto Ventura Diaz,
Yaw Eshun and
Peter Veljovic to lead the Lightning offense.
Jose Bautista,
Mentor Mahmuti and
George Montilla should all see plenty of action as they were instrumental last year in the team's success. Newcomers
Juan Carlos Santos, Felipe Delgado Velandia,
Xayveon Williams and AJ Szulc should all contribute.
Fans unable to make the trip to Reading, PA can follow all of the action on line via live stats and live stream.
