Bronx, N.Y. – After having no activity since March 2020, due Covid-19 Crisis around NYC and worldwide, three Lehman College Athletic teams (men's & women's soccer; women's tennis) will finally return to action this Saturday to officially commence the 2021 fall season.
"We are extremely delighted and excited to have our athletic teams back on the field/court this fall season," said Lehman Associate Director of Athletics,
Georgia Efthalitsides. "I know it has been very difficult for all since Spring 2020, however this weekend our student athletes are ready to continue where they left off (prior to Covid) in bringing success to Lightning Family both on and off the field."
Saturday's Lightning action kickoffs with a twin-bill at South Field as women's and men's soccer teas hosts non-conference rivals, Skyline group of Sarah Lawrence at noon, and College of Mount St. Vincent at 2:30 pm ET, respectively.

Lightning women's soccer, under the helm of former assistant coach
Samantha Dias, face off with Gryphons (1-1) for the fourth time since 2014. Lehman has first three head-to-head encounters, however, Sarah Lawrence took the last meeting, 3-1, in Bronxville, N.Y. on September 9, 2019.
In the second soccer encounter on Saturday at South Field, the Lightning men, under seventh year head coach
Toma Gojcevic, welcome the Dolphins (1-0) for the first time since 2015. Lehman has won two of the last three meetings against Mount St. Vincent since 2011. In the last encounter, the Lightning posted a 2-1 triumph at South Field on September 1, 2015.
Rounding out the Saturday's action will be women's tennis squad traveling to Purchase, N.Y. to square off against Manhattanville College (0-1) in non-conference match-up set for 1 pm ET. And, this year, the Lightning are under the direction of former assistant coach
Jeff Nerenberg.
This will be the first encounter between the two sides since 2009 as Valiants have won nine of 13 head-to-head meetings going back to 1983. In the previous match, on Sept. 16, 2009, the Lightning won 5-4.
