The Lehman College men's and women's basketball teams will return to action on Wednesday evening as the squads welcome the Yellow Jackets of New York City College of Technology to the APEX Center for a pair of pivotal conference battles. The men's game gets things started at 5:30pm, with the women's tussle scheduled for 7:30pm. The Lehman College men's basketball team has won two consecutive conference games and finds its overall CUNYAC mark at 6-1 through seven games this season. Dating back to last season, the Lightning have won eight of their last 10 conference tilts. The Lightning are coming off of a very impressive 76-54 victory over the Beavers of the City College of New York this past Saturday at the APEX Center. In the win, the Lightning were led by senior center Alen Redzic who put forth a terrific game as he recorded a double-double as he posted game-highs in points with 17 (6-13 FG) rebounds with 14 rebounds to go along with three steals. DeWitt Clinton High School product Duane Rhoden helped with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists while sophomore guard Xavier Garvin netted 12 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists. The Lightning will hope to keep the ball rolling tonight against a Yellow Jacket team that enters the APEX Center hungry for a conference win. City Tech enters the game with a 5-2 conference mark and a 10-7 overall record.
On the women's side, the Lightning have put together back-to-back hard fought victories, as the team defeated Medgar Evers College on the road by a score of 68-65 last Wednesday evening before returning home to the APEX Center this past Saturday afternoon and turning back the CCNY Beavers by a score of 79-63. In the victory for Lehman, senior standout Sally Nnamani as she put forth one of the best all-around performances of her four-year career, as she netted a whopping 27 points to go along with 21 rebounds and seven blocks. Junior guard Kelsey Ash hit four three-pointers, including two key treys in the second half while netting 16 points for the night. The feisty guard also grabbed six rebounds and dished four assists. Lehman will hope to add to its win total against a Yellow Jacket team that will be searching for its first win of the season.
In all, the Lightning-Yellow Jacket at the APEX Center tomorrow night should be an intriguing one.
